Travel is more than seeing sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide holistic education beyond the classroom, our school recently organized an enriching excursion for students of Classes 7 to 12 to two of New Delhi’s most iconic landmarks—Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhawan and the majestic India Gate.
The journey began with a visit to Amrit Udyan, the sprawling and historic garden nestled within the Presidential Estate. Formerly known as Mughal Gardens, this botanical treasure has now been renamed to reflect its deeper cultural significance. As students walked through its beautifully manicured lawns, symmetrical flower beds, and artistic fountains, they learned about the blend of Mughal and British landscaping styles, the significance of seasonal blooms, and the ecological importance of green spaces in urban settings.
Our students were fascinated by the variety of flowers—from tulips to roses—and the discipline with which the gardens are maintained. The serene environment provided a peaceful retreat and offered a chance for students to connect with nature, photography, and art appreciation.
Next, the group made their way to India Gate, one of India’s most revered national monuments. Standing tall in memory of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, the India Gate served as a moment of solemn reflection. The sight of the Amar Jawan Jyoti kindled a sense of patriotism and respect among the students, sparking meaningful conversations about courage, sacrifice, and national pride.
Throughout the day, students displayed exemplary discipline and curiosity, engaging actively with teachers, capturing photographs, and documenting their learnings. The trip not only allowed them to unwind and bond with peers but also provided a deeper understanding of our country’s rich heritage, architecture, and values.
Such experiential learning journeys help us nurture responsible, aware, and culturally grounded citizens of tomorrow.
A day full of discovery, pride, and inspiration!
