On 4th Dec'24, students of Vardhman Academy, Radha Garden, Meerut participated in an engaging and insightful Mock Parliament activity, as a part of the 75th Constitution Day celebration, showcasing their understanding of the democratic process and the roles of elected officials. The event, held in the school auditorium, was a blend of educational fun and spirited debates, with students stepping into the shoes of MPs and Ministers.
The session kicked off with an opening address from the Speaker of the House, followed by the swearing-in of student representatives. The parliamentarians were divided into two political parties, each with its own manifesto, and passionately debated on the issue Free availability of Internet Service to all.
The atmosphere was electric as the MPs delivered powerful speeches, asked tough questions, and worked collaboratively to craft solutions for this pressing concern. The mock activity allowed students to gain firsthand experience of how decisions are made in a parliamentary system, while also honing their public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
The event concluded with a vote on whether the bill should be passed or not, demonstrating the essence of democratic decision-making.
Our esteemed Principal Ma'am appreciated the students and concluded that, this activity was a valuable lesson in leadership, respect, and collaboration. It reminded us that effective decision-making comes from listening to diverse perspectives and working together for the common good.
This Mock Parliament activity was not only an enriching educational experience but also a memorable occasion that left students with a deeper appreciation for the importance of active participation in a democracy.
